Glass Beach, Fort Bragg
After the Botanical Gardens, we checked out the Glass Beach on the north side of Fort Bragg.
   
Walking through coastal prairie to get to the beach.  Yes, we were on a trail.
   
The Glass Beach used to be Fort Bragg's garbage dump.  They stopped dumping there in 1959 but did not clean it up.  The relentless power of the ocean gradually turned the garbage into smooth beach confetti.
   
There is a nice trail along the cliff overlooking the beaches, but there is no easy access to the Glass Beach.  I guess they don't want you down there.  It wasn't easy to get down, but we made it.
 
Here we are on glass beach.
   
At first I thought the Glass Beach was a dud, but then I started looking closely at the "sand".
   
Sure enough, most of those pebbles are smooth glass.
   
Smooth glass is many colors.
   
Occasionally we found a little piece of metal.

Yay Glass Beach!  It doesn't take long to see it.  It's worth seeing though.
